AIEC supports every year up to 4 PhD students members of AIEC to carry out short-term research stays (minimmum 15 days) in laboratories outside their own region under the supervision of a hosting researcher also belongoing to AIEC.
Award recipients should contribute to the AIEC mission of discovering, communicating and preserving Knowledge!
Applications will be accepted until the end of October. The awards will be communicated on November granting mobilities to be carried on the following year.
Eligibility:
1) Applicants must be active PhD students enrolled in official doctoral programs under the supervision of a research group member of AIEC.
2) Applicants must be active members of AIEC at the time of application and during the research stay.
3) Research stays must be authorized by the supervisor of the applicant.
4) Principal investigators responsible for the laboratories receiving the applicants must be active members of AIEC and must authorize the research stay.
Award Specifications and Conditions:
1) Each award will consist of a single instalment of 500 € to be paid directly to the beneficiary. These funds should be used to cover expenses connected to the mobility (travel, accommodation, stay…). AIEC will not pay or refund any invoice.
2) The beneficiary must provide proofs of the stay within one month after having finished the mobility.
3) Awards from AIEC-MFP are compatible with any other mobility fellowships.
4) Applicants are eligible to only one AIEC-MFP during their PhD studies.
5) Awardees are obliged to acknowledge AIEC funding through the AIEC-MFP in any presentation or publication that resulted from the mobility program.
6) Awardees are obliged to send a summary and photograph of the stay to be published in the web page of AIEC
Requirements:
Applicants are expected to submit the following information through the AIEC e-mail (aiecendocrinol@gmail.com) during the period of September-October:
1) Application form (to download below), containing applicant and proposal general information:
a. First Part (1 page) should include:
-Candidate name, affiliation, email contact.
-Information about the period of stay.
-Title and abstract (250 words) of ongoing PhD thesis.
-Title and abstract (250 words) of the proposed research for the mobility.
b. Second Part (1 page) would be the proposal narrative that summarizes and articulates the project’s significant contribution in the graduate student’s field of study. The proposal should include the goals of the research project, a plan of the work to be developed and why research at the selected destination is necessary. The applicant should describe the project in terms that do not require reviewers to be experts in the area.
- Curriculum Vitae (maximum 4 pages).
- Document demonstrating PhD student status.
- A support letter or email from the PhD supervisor authorizing the stay.
- Invitation letter or email from the AIEC member that will be responsible for the short-term research stay at the destination lab.
- An official document from the bank with the applicant’s account number.
Selection Criteria:
Proposals will be considered and evaluated by the AIEC board considering the following evaluation criteria:
1) Curriculum vitae of the applicant.
2) The significance of the proposed research plan, including the impact on the applicant’s broader academic field of study.
3) The clarity of the proposed research questions and the feasibility of the working plan.
4) The justification for research at the destination research laboratory.
5) If two proposals come from the same laboratory and the number of applicants is higher than the number of fellowships only one application will be funded
Reporting Requirements:
The grantee must submit a final report (1-2 pages in PDF format) to the AIEC via the Society’s email (aiecendocrinol@gmail.com) within one month after finishing the stay.
The report must summarize the work accomplished during the fellowship period and should also include a letter by the responsible at the destination laboratory confirming the stay.
Deadline:
AIEC-MFP will have one annual call. This will be launched in September. Applications will be accepted until the end of October.
